The Targeted States High Impact Project (TSHIP) Nigeria is recruiting to fill following vacant positions in Bauchi State:
Child Health Facilitators:
Roles and responsibilities 1. Assist the LGAs and ward personnel in developing a detailed micro plan, social mapping down to the ward particularly on the target population, where coverage gaps for routine immunizations, nutrition, malaria control, management of acute respiratory infections and providing on the job training for patent medicine vendors.
2. Assist the Senior Maternal & Child Health Advisor and Malaria and Child Specialist to provide requisite technical support in their LGAs of operation.
3. To closely supervise the cold chain and vaccines security in the LGAs of operations
4. Monitor the role of community resource persons enabled by the project to strengthen referral to their catchment health facilities.
5. Participate in all LGA level meetings and briefing.
6. Work with the Zonal Managers and Director Primary Health care to develop and implement an improvement plan for service delivery points in the catchment areas.
7. The consultant will work closely with Senior Maternal and Child Health Advisor to provide all required services that would ensure attainment of the overall objective as outlined
Skill set
1. A degree in Social Sciences and postgraduate certificate courses in Public Health or related field with at least 3 years practical experience in Child Survival projects including routine immunization activities.
2. Knowledge of USAID policies rules, regulations preferred and evidence of at least six (6) Global Health Learning courses attended.
3. Strong community ties and demonstrated ability to work with communities, WARD development committees, LGA leadership and SMOH technical staff. Must have the confidence of the client.
4. Clear understanding of public health issues and challenges in resource poor settings in Northern Nigeria.
5. Computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint presentations, Excel, and Access; ability to produce accurate reports and data on activities.
6. Excellent communication skills in local languages; ability to give clear instructions; good English and Hausa writing skills an asset.
7. Willingness and ability to travel extensively in the field, under at times suboptimal conditions.
INTERNS to Support Child Health Interventions (x10)
Roles and responsibilities 1. Assist the Child Health facilitators in collation and displaying of detailed micro plans, social mapping down to the ward particularly on the target population, where coverage gaps for routine immunizations, nutrition, malaria control, management of acute respiratory infections and providing on the job training for patent medicine vendors.
2. Assist the Senior Maternal & Child Health Advisor and Malaria and Child Specialist to provide requisite technical support in their LGAs of operation.
3. To closely supervise the cold chain and vaccines security in the LGAs of operations
4. Monitor the role of community resource persons enabled by the project to strengthen referral to their catchment health facilities.
5. To produce a SWOT report of the interventions supported not later than 5 working days of the end process.
6. Participate in all LGA level meetings and briefing.
7. Work with the Zonal Managers and Director Primary Health care to develop and implement an improvement plan for service delivery points in the catchment areas.
8. The consultant will work closely with Senior Maternal and Child Health Advisor to provide all required services that would ensure attainment of the overall objective as outlined
Skill set
1. A diploma in Social Sciences and certificate courses in Public Health or related field with interest in public health interventions.
2. The candidates must be below 24 years of age.
3. Computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint presentations, Excel, and Access; ability to produce accurate reports and data on activities.
4. Excellent communication skills in local languages; ability to give clear instructions; good English and Hausa writing skills an asset.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively in the field, under at times suboptimal conditions
